Bought a car in Almelo? Prepare it for export

One practical stop after the handover

The collection address and the export office do not have to be the same place. Once you have agreed the purchase in the Almelo area, the short trip to Hengelo lets you deal with the administrative handover and the arrangements for driving abroad together. This is particularly useful when the seller has the registration papers but has not yet organised export insurance or plates.

Our office is in Hengelo, in the Twente region of Overijssel. We do not operate an inspection station in Almelo. As an RDW-recognised export office, we can process the deregistration ourselves, without sending you to an inspection station first. You can also deregister for export at an RDW inspection station by appointment if that route suits you better.

Choose according to how the vehicle travels

If a transporter is collecting the car, the €50 RDW export document may be all you need from our road-export services. It records the deregistration from the Dutch register, and the seller receives proof of discharge, known as the vrijwaringsbewijs. The car need not be present for the document alone. Tell us before travelling if the vehicle will remain with the seller in Almelo.

For a journey on its own wheels, the €150 complete package adds 14-day third-party liability insurance, called WA in Dutch, the green card and two white export plates. Insurance with plates on its own costs €100. All these prices include VAT, with no hidden fees; payment is by cash or bank transfer.

Plan the visit around your collection time

During Mon-Sat 10:00-16:30, you are welcome at our Hengelo office. Please call or WhatsApp about 20 minutes before reaching us so someone is ready to prepare the documents and plates immediately. Outside opening hours, arrange an appointment. From the west side of Twente, choose the N36/A35 or the N743 through Borne according to your collection point.

Leave with the right documents for the next stage

We check the originals, process the export deregistration and prepare the document in about 15 minutes. When you choose the driving package, insurance and plate fitting are handled during the same visit. Keep the export document with the registration papers for the authority that will register the vehicle abroad. That authority decides the local requirements; Dutch export paperwork does not guarantee registration in another country.

The plates and insurance last 14 days. If plans change, request an additional 14 days before expiry for €120, including new plates and a new green card. The total cannot exceed 28 days. For a non-EU destination, our customs agent also files an EX-A declaration with Dutch customs, quoted separately at €120 to €180. White plates are not a substitute for that customs document.
