Export Car to Kosovo – RDW Recognized Export Office Hengelo
Planning to export a car from the Netherlands to Kosovo? Auto Export Document in Hengelo prepares all Dutch export papers the same day. Kosovo has a young population and strong ties to the Netherlands, and demand for well-kept European used cars is high. Two things matter here: Kosovo is outside the EU, so an EX-A export/customs declaration and import duties apply, and – importantly – Kosovo is not part of the Green Card system. Our Dutch export insurance therefore does not extend into Kosovo, so the driver must buy short-term border insurance at the Kosovo frontier.
Important: Kosovo is not in the Green Card system
Our Dutch export insurance with Green Card covers the EU transit countries, but the Green Card is not valid inside Kosovo. At the Kosovo border the driver must purchase local border insurance (kufitare) before continuing. Plan for this so you are never uninsured on the road.
Why export a car from the Netherlands to Kosovo in 2026?
Kosovo imports most of its cars, and vehicles from the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland are especially sought after. Buyers appreciate the transparent APK inspection history and honest mileage of Dutch used cars, and the large Kosovar community in the Netherlands keeps personal demand strong.
As a non-EU country, Kosovo applies customs duty plus VAT (TVSH, 18%) at import, handled by Kosovo Customs (Dogana e Kosovës). After clearance the buyer registers the car at the vehicle registration centre following a technical inspection.
We arrange the Dutch export side: RDW deregistration, the EX-A declaration, the export document and 14-day export insurance covering the EU and Green Card transit countries en route (such as Serbia). Remember that Kosovo itself requires separate local border insurance.

After paying customs duty and TVSH, the buyer registers the car in Kosovo once it passes the technical inspection. Local insurance must be arranged at the border because the Green Card is not accepted.
