Why export a car from the Netherlands to Serbia in 2026?
Serbia imports a large share of its cars from Western Europe. Dutch used vehicles are especially popular because their maintenance and inspection history is transparent, and prices are competitive compared with local dealers.
Because Serbia is not in the EU, the customs service (Uprava carina) applies roughly 5% import duty plus 20% PDV (Serbian VAT) on the customs value at the border. After clearance, the buyer registers the car with the Serbian traffic police (MUP) following a technical inspection.
