Export Car to Ukraine

To export a car from the Netherlands to Ukraine you need: RDW export certificate (€50), export insurance with Green Card valid in Ukraine (€100), yellow export license plates, vehicle registration document, and your passport. We provide all Dutch export documents at our office in Hengelo.

Yes, Ukraine is a member of the Green Card system. The export insurance we provide includes the Green Card which is valid in Ukraine. This means you are legally insured for third-party liability during transit through EU countries and into Ukraine.

The Ukrainian border (via Poland) is approximately 1,800–2,200 km from Hengelo depending on the route. The journey takes roughly 20–25 hours of driving. We strongly recommend the complete export package including extended insurance for long-distance exports.

Ukraine has its own customs and import regulations which may include import duties, excise tax and VAT depending on the vehicle type, engine size and age. We handle the Dutch export side; Ukrainian import procedures are your responsibility. Consult the Ukrainian customs authority (Derzhavna mytna sluzhba) for current rates.

Yes, the standard 14-day export insurance can be extended for €120 per additional 14 days. For Ukraine, an extension is recommended given the distance. Come to our office before the expiry date for renewal.

The most common route is via Germany (A1/A2), Poland (A2 towards Warsaw, then south-east), and crossing into Ukraine at Medyka/Shehyni (near Przemysl) or Dorohusk/Yahodyn (near Chelm). Route via Slovakia or Hungary is also possible.
